On Monday, a Los Angeles judge granted the rapper, producer, and fashion designer’s request to officially alter his name from Kanye Omari West to Ye, with no middle or last name.
In court papers, Judge Michelle Williams Court stated, “There being no objections, the petition for change of name is approved”. “Personal grounds” were stated in the petition submitted on August 24.
When he launched his studio album in 2018. The singer hinted at the transition “The being formally known as Kanye West,” he tweeted a few months later. I’m a YE.”
“So, I’m you. And I’m us. It’s us. It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye, just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion – everything. It’s more of a reflection of who we are [as] beings.”

His 2018 album was similarly titled with the nickname. He’s claimed in interviews that it’s a term found throughout the Bible, as well as an abbreviation of the first name he likes.
West said in 2019 that he could temporarily alter his name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West.”
The 44-year-old is divorcing Kim Kardashian West, who did not request that her surname be changed back to Kardashian when she filed for divorce from him in February. His old last name is also passed down to the couple’s four children.
“They were in a bad position around the time Kim filed for divorce,” the source revealed. “She is overjoyed that things have improved. It’s all really good for the children.”
In August, the artist released his much-awaited album “Donda.” According to Billboard, it debuted at the top of the Top 200 albums list, making him only the seventh artist to achieve ten number-one albums.
