Tyga, whose actual name is Michael Stevenson, a 31-year-old rapper, handed himself into the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood station Tuesday morning, according to public information officer Lizeth Lomeli. Early Monday, officers were called to the domestic violence incident, according to Lomeli.
According to a statement on the LAPD’s social media account, Tyga’s arrest was for felony domestic violence. An LAPD spokesperson verified the tweet’s validity to USA TODAY.
Michael Stevenson’s ex-girlfriend Camryn Swanson posted images of suspected violence on her Instagram Story the day before his arrest. Swanson tweets on Monday that she had has “physically attacked,” but she didn’t mention Tyga by name.
Swanson wrote with a photo of herself with a damaged eye. “I’ve been emotionally, psychologically, and physically tortured and I’m not concealing it anymore.” “It’s an insult for me and sad it had to come to this,” she said in another shot, “but I have to stand up for myself.”
In February, Tyga and Swanson made their relationship public on Instagram. Since then, the pair has removed photographs of each other from their social media profiles.
According to prison records, Tyga was freed after paying a $50,000 bail.
