A Philippines military plane headed to Jolo Island in the Sulu province in the Philippines, crashed within the area, killing only few with the remainder of its passengers, including the pilots having survived the crash.
What Happened During the Plane Crash
The plane left Cagayan de Oro with an estimated around 92 people onboard. Heading to Mindanao’s destination. Halfway through their journey, the plane took a stop at Joli, trying to land the plane at the runaway. But missed it, it lost control before veering itself into the crash zone.
First responders came, rescued around 50, with a casualty rate of 29. They’re still trying to find the others. The three pilots of the plane survived, but are in critical condition.
Some of the soldiers who saw the plane losing control, managed to jump off before, though whether they landed safely or not is yet to be determined.
The plane somehow lost power, couldn’t make it to the runaway before crashing away from the landing path. As part of military assistance, the plane was provided by the US Air Force, the model name is Lockheed C-130 Hercules.
The troops on plane were dispatched to fight against the terrorist group, Abu Sayyaf within the Muslim territory of Sulu. This has been going for a long time. As of now, search and rescue are still scouring through the crash. Looking for survivors or any bodies of the deceased.
