Actor and Model, Azmeri Haque Badhon, who plays the lead character in the film “Rehana Maryam Noor,” considers it an honor to have been the first actress from Bangladesh to appear in the 74th Cannes Film Festival.
On July 9th, the cast and crew of “Rehana Maryam Noor” walked the red carpet at the 74th Cannes Film Festival. Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s film has been officially selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, making it the first Bangladeshi film to do so. The film is winning a slew of awards from the delighted Cannes audience.

‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ made its worldwide premiere on July 7. At the conclusion of the show, the crowd gave the crew a standing ovation.
Badhon walked the red carpet of the Sal Dubusi Theatre at Cane Pale Do Festival on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the film’s worldwide debut at the festival.
“Participating in the Cannes is a huge achievement for me. Such an opportunity is difficult to come by. Honoured to be a part of the film,” she states
The team of ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ arrived in a gleaming car in the front yard of the Palais de Festival building on Friday (July 9) at approximately 9:30 p.m. local time. ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ appeared on the red carpet shortly after the announcement. Bandhan goes on the red carpet with producer Saad by his side.
With her designer gown, Badhon stole the show, while Saad and the rest showcased their panache in perfectly tailored suits.
“Full credit goes to director Saad. It’s difficult to make movies centred on women in our society. No one wants to look at our society from the perspective of a woman. Nor does anybody want to show it.”
How many films are Competing Worldwide?
Despite this, 20 films are competing with ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ in Riga at the 64th Cannes. Andrea Arnold, a British female producer, will present the award on July 16.
