Remember Metal Slug? If you do, you have good memories of it. Am sure everybody does of it. It was considered to be the classic NeoGaf classic game to play before everything else that was in selection. Now, well, I mean this wouldn’t be the first time Metal Slug sequel/remake/reboot/spin-off out there. Metal Slug had notable sequels up until SNK decided to experiment a bit and went overboard with the changes they made. Pretty much everybody forgot about the game existing after that.
Well now, you can come back to it in joyful glee. Just not the same 2D scroller you remembered. Metal Slug is releasing a new tactics game, aptly named Metal Slug Tactics. Kind of similar to what Gears Tactics, but I guess that’s a thing now. It’ll be released as a tactical strategy game.
Slug It Out
The new Metal Slug game is being developed by Leikir Studio and Published by Dotemu with SNK. It’ll feature the old pixel-based artstyle with some neat changes added to them. Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma will return to the game as playable protagonists. Will add classic weaponry, skill trees, perks, and a super attack-fueling adrenaline system to tackle tougher fights.
Of course, in 2021, some games are going to have to spice things up. Which is why they’re also adding some Roguelite design into the game. Adding more replay value as well as notable victory achievements.
The game will be available to play in Steam. Of course, no console release has been announced nor had any inkling of word about them. So we’ll have to wait, probably till the PC version comes out.
