Just recently, Sony has acquired a Housemarque game studio, responsible for some of the best games like Resogun, Alienation, and the recent Returnal. Now it seems after some hints, and accidental Tweet, looking like Sony Play Station Studio is now eyeing on Bluepoint Games.
Bluepoint has made mostly ports of other games like the God of War collection for the PS3, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus remaster, Metal Gear Solid HD collection, basically mostly remasters before they remade Shadow of the Colossus and Demon Souls from the ground up.
Sony’s Large Studio Roster
It’s no strange news that Sony is feeling the heat of Microsoft making big studio purchases as of recently. I mean, they’re a big company, they can buy whoever they want, at this point. They just bought out Bethesda. One of the biggest game publishers out there. While Sony can’t buy something large as Bethesda, they can only push forward for buying smaller studios or ones that are growing like Housemarque, giants like Insomniac. And now, they’re looking to get Bluepoint Games.
A Tweet from PlayStation Japan with an image that reveals Bluepoint being part of Sony. That Tweet has since been deleted but was saved up by ResetEra user as well as Nibel on Twitter.
I mean, this happening is pretty possible at this point. Bluepoint has maintained a very close relationship with PlayStation for almost 2 decades now. But instead of doing remakes and remasters, they could very well start on making their own IP real soon. The studio has grown a lot since then.
