Say goodbye to your Troy Baker, John DiMaggio, Nolan North, Laura Bailey, Claudia Black, Tara Strong and all the other voice actors you know and are fond of so well. Because, A.I has decided to come to conquer yet another industrial sector. Well, not exactly but here’s where things get pretty interesting when it comes the potential now that this A.I software has.
Voice Mimicking Of Doom
A modder going by the name of nikich340 has been developing a mod DLC content for the Witcher 3: Blood & Wine expansion. Synopsis is that it is a continuation of Orianna’s story after it ended within the expansion. Going by the name of A Night to Remember. Gee, that isn’t so bad, why does this piece have such a bad vibe? Well, keep reading, you’ll see soon enough.
Apparently the game even has added voice over from the original VAs, but here’s the crux of it. It’s not from them. The modder used an A.I program called CyberMind from Russia to recreate Doug Cockle’s voice over with new lines. Including voice over for the other characters as well. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is said to be the best-selling game, of course it is 6 years old this point but still maintains quite a bit of relevancy.
The voice-over aren’t perfect, there are some lines that came out shoddy. But you can see the concept itself working fine often times leading to a scary inclination that voice over from actual humans could be replaced if they just give small samples of their voices for the A.I to use.
Future Is Pretty Far Off
Yeah, this could be overblown hysteria…or is it? We live in a world where people can morph their face into other people’s body all thanks to A.I. With the push for self-driven cars, A.I based algorithm searches, and personalized profiles for social media users, we’re not that far off.
Of course, A.I lacks the depth and intricacies of an actual human being. Replicating that could take a long time to pull. But the fact that we’ve reached the testing phase of this, depending on how much they could spend into this research, including gaming companies for cost saving measures, things going to look pretty gloomy.
Might as well let the A.I decided it can be a better human than us. We’re a doomed species this point.
